This unit covers transitions and combinations from standing to ground. Takedowns and throws can take some time to learn how to do safely without hurting ourselves and/or our partners. Make sure you are learning how to breakfall well to avoid injury. As for the boxing combinations and kicks, if you are practicing at home, it will be helpful to get a set of mitts and gloves and maybe even a heavy bag to practice on. Remember, as in the previous unitis, these techniques take time and many many reps to get down. Please be patient with yourself and your partners. Everyone learns at a different pace. And remember to only go as hard on your partner as you want them to go on you. *Variations in classes depend on location; Some instructors will teach this unit as a whole (in a weekend course), or in as many as 4-8 classes. Therefore, what is in this lesson (Unit 4), may be divided amongst several classes, or cover a time period of over a month.
